It has come to our attention that one of the Job Posters on this website turned out to be a SCAMMER. Specifically, we are referring to the Hotel Hiring Opportunity in Canada that was submitted to us by a certain person named C. Brice using the email addresses kutumahospitality@yahoo.ca and hospitality.career@yahoo.com.

We have been very careful in screening the companies that come to us to post their hiring opportunities. I can assure you that not everyone gets listed here, especially those that don’t provide company profile, company address or contact information (email or phone/fax). Unfortunately, this one has made its way due to a very subtle letter composition. That specific job notice has been deleted already.

Our apologies to you. Rest assured we are doing our best to bring you quality job opportunities in the future.

It seems scammers are everywhere these days. Luckily, you can protect yourself from being victimized. Here are some tips that we’d like to share based on our exposure on the Web.

1. Be Careful with Your Money.

If the hiring company will ask for your money without valid reasons, THINK TWICE, please. Your money should be handed down to the proper office staff and should be evidenced by and Official Receipt indicating the name of the company. NEVER, never, never send money to someone you don’t know through a remittance company like Western Union, LBC, MoneyGram, and others. Not even bank to bank. Also a valid business payment transaction must be to the account of the Company and not to the individual.

2. Check the Company Background

What usually happens is that the company will check the background of the applicant. You have every right to check the background of the company. This is one of the smartest thing you can do. Isn’t it right that you get to know the company you are applying for? There are a lot of companies out there. Select one where you can be happy working on and be financially rewarded.

3. Guard Your Secret Information

Don’t disclose anything that you dearly value including the following:

• Your credit card information. There is a recent credit card scam where you will be asked to provide your credit card as an Identification. Credit cards can’t be used as identification card. Valid identifications are those issued by the government: SSS, Driver’s License, Passport, PhilHealth, Voter’s ID, etc.
• Web Account and Password. your password should be kept secret always and you just don’t share it with anyone, not even to your employer.

In fairness to the other posters, a lot of them are legitimate companies seriously looking for talented professionals like you.
